How to Cast to a Hisense TV from iPhone or Android

"Hisense TV" isn't one platform — Hisense ships VIDAA, Google TV, Roku TV, and Fire TV models, and each one casts differently. Once you know which system yours runs, CastBrowser sends compatible web videos to it with the right protocol — DLNA, Google Cast, Roku ECP, or Amazon Fling — no screen mirroring required.

Cast web videos to your Hisense TV free from iPhone or Android — no account needed.

First, Find Out Which Hisense TV You Have

Hisense licenses more smart TV platforms than almost any other brand, so the casting method depends entirely on which one your set uses. Check the remote and the home screen:

  • Hisense VIDAA: Hisense's own system — a fast, colorful app row. Casts over the TV's built-in DLNA renderer.
  • Hisense Google TV / Android TV: a Google TV or Android TV interface with an Assistant button. Includes Chromecast built-in.
  • Hisense Roku TV: purple home screen and a remote with a Roku logo. Casts over Roku's native ECP protocol — not Google Cast.
  • Hisense Fire TV: a Fire TV interface with an Alexa voice remote. Casts over Amazon's Fling protocol.

Casting to a Hisense VIDAA TV (DLNA)

VIDAA is Hisense's home-grown platform and the most common outside North America. Every VIDAA set includes a DLNA media renderer, so there's nothing to install on the TV:

  1. Open CastBrowser and join the same Wi-Fi as the Hisense.
  2. Open a compatible website and start the video so it's detected.
  3. Tap the cast icon and pick your Hisense VIDAA TV.
  4. The video plays on the TV's native player — use your phone to play, pause, and seek.

If the TV doesn't appear, confirm content sharing / DLNA is enabled in the VIDAA network settings. More on how the protocol works: what is DLNA.

Casting to a Hisense Google TV or Android TV

Hisense Google TV models (like the U6, U7 and U8 series in North America) include Chromecast built-in, so they're a Google Cast receiver out of the box. Open a compatible site in CastBrowser, start the video, tap cast, and choose your Hisense — the stream plays directly over Google Cast. Many of these models support AirPlay 2 as well, which iPhone users can use as an alternative. See casting to Chromecast and Google TV.

Casting to a Hisense Roku TV

Hisense Roku TVs are common in the US — and because Roku doesn't support Google Cast, a normal "Chromecast" flow can't reach them. CastBrowser talks to Roku over its native ECP protocol using its published Roku channel (ID 847516): open the site, start the video, tap cast, and pick the Hisense Roku TV. For more on Roku's limits, see casting to Roku TV and does Roku support Chromecast.

Casting to a Hisense Fire TV

Some Hisense models ship with Amazon's Fire TV platform, so CastBrowser sends a compatible stream over the Fling protocol. Same steps — open the site, start the video, tap cast, pick the TV. Details in the cast to Fire TV guide.

Supported Video Formats

CastBrowser detects videos in over 20 formats, including adaptive streams. Whether a given file plays still depends on what your Hisense model can decode.

Troubleshooting Hisense Casting

Hisense TV not showing up in the device list?

  • Check Wi-Fi: confirm your phone and Hisense are on the same local network — not an isolated guest network, separate subnet, or VLAN.
  • Disable VPN: a VPN on your phone blocks local device discovery. Turn it off and try again.
  • Check router isolation: "AP isolation" or "client isolation" stops devices from seeing each other. Disable it in your router settings.
  • Enable DLNA on VIDAA: content sharing can be off by default on some VIDAA models — check the TV's network settings.
  • Restart the TV: power-cycle the Hisense and pull to refresh the device list in CastBrowser.

Video detected but won't play?

  • DRM content: protected streams from major subscription services cannot be cast — use the TV's own app for those.
  • Format support: your Hisense model may not decode that container or codec. Try a different source or quality.
  • Expired link: some web video URLs expire. Reload the page and let CastBrowser re-detect the video.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I cast to a Hisense TV?

Find which platform your Hisense runs — VIDAA, Google TV, Roku TV, or Fire TV. Install CastBrowser, join the same Wi-Fi as the TV, open a compatible website, start the video, tap cast, and pick your Hisense. CastBrowser uses the right protocol automatically: DLNA, Google Cast, Roku ECP, or Amazon Fling.

What operating system does my Hisense TV use?

Check the home screen and remote: a VIDAA app row is Hisense's own system; a Google TV interface means Chromecast built-in; a purple home screen with a Roku-logo remote is Hisense Roku TV; a Fire TV interface with an Alexa remote is Hisense Fire TV.

Does a Hisense TV support DLNA?

Yes — VIDAA models and most Hisense Smart TVs include a DLNA renderer, which is how CastBrowser reaches them without a TV-side app. Google TV models add Chromecast built-in, and Roku TV models are reached over ECP via CastBrowser's Roku channel.

Can I cast to a Hisense TV from an iPhone?

Yes. Install CastBrowser, join the same Wi-Fi, open a compatible website, start the video, tap cast, and choose the Hisense. Works across all four Hisense platforms — no Apple TV needed. Newer Google TV and Roku models may also offer AirPlay 2.

Why won't my Hisense TV show up when I try to cast?

Usually a network issue: same Wi-Fi and band, VPN off, AP isolation off. On VIDAA models also confirm content sharing / DLNA is enabled. Power-cycle the TV and refresh the device list in CastBrowser.

Is casting to a Hisense TV with CastBrowser free?

Yes. CastBrowser is currently free, with no account and no subscription. You can cast compatible, non-DRM web videos and supported local files to a Hisense TV at no cost.
